Description
The Malabar Tree Nymph is a native of India so I was lucky to see a live one at "Butterfly World" in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. These butterflies were lazily flitting around, but were mostly content to find a spot to rest for awhile. That is when I caught this lacy beauty with my camera.
Typically, their flight is slow, weak and fluttery. They glide a lot giving members of this genus the other name of paperkite. Often gliding above the tree canopy but every now and then moving lower down in forest openings. They are unpalatable like other members of the Danainae.
