This lovely butterfly photographed at Butterfly World in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida is called a "Piano Key" butterfly. The reason for the name becomes obvious when you see the markings along the bottom of the wings.

The piano key butterfly is a Heliconius Melpomene. They are commonly known to belong to the long wings or heliconians butterfly family. Adults always exhibit bright wing color patterns to signal their distastefulness to potential predators.
