The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge is locally known as "The Suspension Bridge". It spans the Ohio River and connects Cincinnati, Ohio to Covington, Kentucky. This bridge was completed in 1866 and is still in use. It is believed that this bridge was built as a prototype for the Brooklyn Bridge. In fact Roebling's son Built the Brooklyn Bridge some 30 years after the Cincinnati bridge was completed.
