Description
A fascinating characteristic about the Queen Anne's Lace blooms are that they are in many different designs, like snowflakes! This bloom has extensions all around to set-off the lovely cluster bloom in the center.
Queen Anne’s lace is found in fields, meadows, waste areas, roadsides and disturbed habitats. They are very hardy and thrive in a dry environment. Despite being known by some as weeds they are one of the most beautiful wildflowers in the Midwest.
This particular has a small purple flower in the center which shows how this plant got its name. It is said that Queen Ann was sewing her lace when she pricked her finger and a drop of blood got on the lace.
