The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back.   The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

Currituck Beach Lighthouse is distinct among its fellow coastal beacons along the Outer Banks both in history and appearance. The other four tall lighthouses (Bodie Island, Cape Hatteras, Ocracoke, and Cape Lookout) are painted in striking black and white in spiral, horizontal, and checkered patterns while Currituck Beach Lighthouse shows off the natural brick used in its construction.
This lighthouse stands out for its distinctive red exterior. This design was intentional, to set the Currituck Lighthouse apart from its Outer Banks neighbors. After completion, the lighthouse was left unpainted, allowing visitors to marvel at the sheer number of bricks involved in its construction.
